Reading one of my fellow bloggers – The Spectacled Bean posts she ended her question and answers session with questions for us. So here are my answers.
MY QUESTIONS FOR YOU
Q1 – What’s your favorite movie?
This is such a hard question to answer! It really depends on my mood. I like all sorts of genres so will watch anything from an instalment from the Marvel universe to something romantic like The Notebook. There’s certain ‘classics’ that I will revisit every now and then – Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, Pulp Fiction etc. And then there’s those movies that take me back – Clueless, She’s All That, Can’t Hardly Wait. They remind me of being young and kind of clueless myself, and they’re a good laugh.
Q2 – When trying to buy shoes, what’s your biggest problem?
I have quite a narrow foot and have found some strappy shoes like sandals don’t always fit very well. The biggest problem these days though seems to be getting the right size. For years and years I was a size 7 (39) but last time I got fitted for sneakers (runners) they sized me at an 8 (40). Apparently your foot size can change after pregnancy due to a hormone released which relaxes the ligaments in your body. So now I feel that it depends on the shoe and the fit of it. Sometimes I’m a 7, sometimes I’m an 8. Either way, I can still fit youth size lol!
Q3 – Ice cream cone or cupcake?
What a question! Can’t I have both? I have a bit of a sweet tooth and was graced with the nickname ‘Cakeface’ as a kid. So my first instinct would be to say cupcake. Then I think of a waffle cone from somewhere like Copenhagen filled with some creamy decadent flavour and I’m instantly pulled in that direction. Another memory from childhood springs to mind from when my family owned a fish and chip shop and large deli (milk bar) in Caloundra. My favourite treat was a generous scoop of Old English Toffee ice cream. So my answer is – ice cream in a waffle cone.
Q4 – What’s one good thing you have learned about yourself during this pandemic?
I think the one good thing I’ve learned is that I’m pretty self efficient and can hold things together when life gets tough. I didn’t lose it and I was able to navigate through those scary first weeks of being at the airport knowing Covid-19 cases were still travelling. I kept calm when I was stood down and kept life as normal as possible for my kids. The other things that were made clear to me is that I actually really like structure and routine. I really missed being able to eat out at cafes or restaurants so I’m glad we can do that again.
Q5 – Any eccentric people in your family? Discuss.
Yes! I wouldn’t say we’ve got anyone too eccentric now days but when I hear the stories from my Mum’s side of the family I swear it sounds like a Dickens novel. Think England, being in service at a large home, an inappropriate affair with the son of the ‘Big House’, and the raising of a baby girl by her grandmother. This little girl was at one point rescued by her grandmother after she was basically given away. Found in a cellar blacking the shoes for the family who’d taken her. I really think my mum (who knows most of the details) should write a book about the family history.
There’s also the story of the two Aunts. One who was basically put to bed with an illness and never left, becoming an invalid and the sister that gave up her life to look after her. These sisters became carers, fostering the children ‘that nobody else wanted’, many, many children. So yeah, I’d definitely say there’s some eccentric characters in my family history.
Well that was fun! Now it’s my turn to nominate and to ask questions. Who to nominate? If you’re reading this blog you’re obviously one of my people so consider this a challenge! You can either answer the same questions I have or take a look at the questions I’ve put together at the bottom of this blog. I can’t wait to read your answers. You may do this in the comments below or on your blog.
