So, my attention to my blog was somehow misplaced. It has definitely been quite some time between posts so I thought it was time to brush off the keyboard and get back to it. What’s been happening I hear you ask? Okay, let me see.
I am sitting here typing, feeling rather uncomfortable, with a large amount of pressure in my lower abdomen. No, I did not eat too much spaghetti for my dinner. I am in fact two days over due for giving birth to baby number two! Crazy! I was so geared up to have this baby about a week ago. So, so, so ready. And now I’m just over it. I shouldn’t be surprised, my son was over cooked by nine days. He made his appearance the day before my scheduled induction and unless something drastic happens in the next week, it looks like this baby is following suit.
I guess it’s just comfortable in there.
So other than the imminent arrival of our newest family member, what else have I been up to? Well I finished up work a little while ago, hospitality and pregnancy not really working too harmoniously towards the end there. With the end of paid employment I have re-entered the world of stay at home mummy. A position I am enjoying again, even though the loss of income has definitely been felt. I do love the one-on-one time I get to spend with my two year old. It’s a great age full of greatness. Great highs and great lows. Great affection, great meltdowns. Great accomplishments, great fears, great frustrations. My little guy is growing and learning so much so quickly that I’m trying to savour every bit of it. It’s definitely not an easy gig, this parenting thing, but it is beyond the most incredible privilege I have experienced in my life.
With the discovery that we were expecting baby number two I have joined a Mums group on Facebook. This is my second time doing this and although nothing beats the face to face advice of my family and close friends, I’ve found these online Mums groups invaluable. I don’t really go in for the anonymity that goes with some of the huge online forums – people can be really nasty and judgmental when they don’t have their true profile exposed – I prefer Facebook pages. In this second group of Mums there seem to be quite a few who live in the same city as me so I’m going to try and make a real effort to catch up with some of them once baby arrives.
So obviously my time spent away from the blog has been filled with much more than just pregnancy, toddler parenting and Facebooking but sitting here is getting even more uncomfortable. I’m going to try and get on here much more often in the future. Share some of the things I’ve been doing as well as some commentary about what’s happening around us all. I might even get more into the food blogging thing. We’ll see.
Signing off.
