New Years Day

Updated: Aug 4, 2021

NewYearsEve

So, the craziness of the “Holiday Season” has wound up, the Christmas Tree has been packed away for another year and the excitement of New Years fireworks has well and truly fizzled. So now I’m here, sitting at my computer feeling restless. Thinking about the year that’s past and wondering what 2016 has in store for me. I’ve done the whole resolutions thing. More than once. The thing is, New Years Day is just like any other day. Whatever was holding me back from fulfilling my goals hasn’t magically disappeared overnight. The procrastination, that I have become a master of, has not left the building.

It’s all a matter of your mindset I hear you say. Well, I guess you’re right. Waking up and suddenly being able to focus on and successfully master all the goals I have set myself, both consciously and unconsciously, hasn’t happened today though. One day down, 365 to go ( It’s a leap year!). I have managed to write up a household budget today, in the hope of starting out on the right foot and I successfully whipped up some homemade veggie fritters for the kids. Delicious and ticks the box of creating healthier foods for the family (I’m trying!). So I guess I did a couple of constructive things on this, the first day of the year.

I think I have come to the conclusion that while I’m not going to set “New Years Resolutions” as such, I want to aim for a general goal of more organisation. It’s not going to happen overnight (I will need to put a whole day aside to sort out all the clothes in this damn house!), but I’m going to strive for a little more structure in our home. We will be moving to a bigger place in roughly six months and I want it to be as smooth a transition as possible. I want to have much more control over our finances to place us in a better position long term. I want to plan and follow through on fun family days for Master E and Miss E (the new Nature Play activities look great!). In order to keep myself focused on these goals and others I am really going to attempt some more me time. Whether it be going to see a movie with my sister, going for a walk sans kids, reading a good book or relaxing in a deep bath. Time to keep centered and remember Sarah, not Mummy, every now and again is definitely on my to do list this year. I’m also going to be more present on my blog.

Do you make resolutions? Do you keep them?
