Nutella Croissants: the laziest dessert ever!

Updated: Aug 4, 2021

Who doesn’t love Nutella? If you answered “Me”, unless you have a serious nut allergy, I suggest you see a professional. The winning combination of hazelnuts and chocolate in an easy to use spread; what’s not to love? Thank you Mr Pietro Ferrero!

I came across this easy sweet treat by sheer desperation. It was mid week, 9pm and I wanted – no, needed – a sweet treat. I’d been good all week in an attempt to eat better and be more active, so I figured it would do no harm. I’ve promised myself I wont make and eat them any more than is totally necessary for my mental and emotional well being!

Heaven in a jar

I had no idea what to make as I had nothing sweet to immediately consume. Hmmmm…… A quick look in the freezer/fridge/pantry and the typing of 3 words into Google gave me my answer.

Puff Pastry Nutella.

I’m not going to credit any one website or page for the recipe. Is this even a recipe? So many pages had the same idea, so like any good foodie and blogger, I thought I’d post it again!

Basically, if you have have a jar of Nutella, a couple of sheets of frozen puff pastry – no we don’t need the fancy home-mad stuff here, and and egg you’re good to go.

Ingredients

Puff pastry Nutella 1 egg

Icing sugar to dust (optional)

Method

Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius

Cut sheet(s) of pastry into triangle pieces by cutting diagonally across the length of sheet. Spoon a teaspoon or so of Nutella onto the pastry, at the large base of the triangle. Roll up and bend to make a crescent shape. Brush with a whisked egg to brown nicely. Place in oven on a baking tray and bake for 20-25 minutes. Dust with icing sugar and serve once slightly cooled.
